Fresno State Emergency Grant Program

All undergraduate, graduate and professional Fresno State students enrolled as of March 26, 2021 in a Title IV federal financial aid eligible program who meets the AB540 residency status.  The grant amount will depend upon whether you are a part-time or full-time student and for those with a California Dream Act Application (CADAA) on file with the University, an Official Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) will be used to determine the award category.

The Emergency grants are designed to support student expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. These expenses may include food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child-care expenses. Funds will not apply to any balance you have on your student account.

Grants will be based on enrollment and a CADAA Expected Family Contribution (EFC), if available, as of March 26, 2021. Awards will be funded in three categories:

 

 

Category 2 – Eligibility Criteria: EFC of 1 - 5700

  

Category 3 – Eligibility Criteria: EFC of 5701+ or No FAFSA

 

Full-time defined as:

Undergraduates, Credentials, and Certificate = 12+ Units

Master's and Doctoral Students = 9+ Units

 

Final recipients and the award amount will be determined based on enrollment and EFC as of March 26.  Beginning the week of April 5, grants will be disbursed by Student Accounts and refunded to students through Bank Mobile. These funds will not show on your Financial Aid award and do NOT apply to any outstanding tuition/fee charges.

No application is necessary.

You can find your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) by logging into your 2020-2021 CADAA  at dream.csac.ca.gov

Grants will be awarded based on the information we have as of March 26th.  Although a CADAA is not required, it does help us determine the categories 

You can still complete a 2020-2021 CADAA at dream.csac.ca.gov and you will want to make sure you include Fresno State's school code 001147. The results with an Official EFC must be received by March 26, 2021.  

• Must be currently enrolled for Spring 2020 in a degree program and not enrolled in a completely online program as of March 13, 2020
• Must meet requirements for CA Assembly Bill 540

For students who submitted a CA Dream Application, grants will be based on each student’s financial need as determined by their Expected Family Contribution (EFC). 

For AB540 students who did not submit a CA Dream Application, grants will be based on an assumed EFC of 1.

Lowest Income: EFC = 0 (No Application necessary)

 

Some Financial Need: EFC Greater than 0 (No Application necessary)

 

Full-time defined as:

When and How

CARES emergency financial grants are to be paid directly to students and cannot apply to any outstanding charges.  Grants will be disbursed to BankMobile in the same manner as all refunds to students.  Students should verify all information at BankMobile is up-to-date by going to the ‘BankMobile Refund Selection’ in your Student Self Service. We recommend selecting a bank account to avoid the wait time for a mailed check. 

Disbursement of grants will begin the week of May 4th.
