Mission Statement
Renaissance Scholars Program is committed to serving students who have experienced foster care or an unaccompanied youth earn a university degree and become leaders in the community.
Goals
Our principal goal is to provide a community of support where students feel they belong and can succeed and thrive. We accomplish this by providing the following:
- A one-stop shop which offers services and referrals for current or former foster youth, unaccompanied homeless youth, orphan youth, and other independent youth attending Fresno State.
- Dedicated staff who are committed to developing meaningful relationships while offering guidance throughout college.
- Provide academic support to help students reach their academic goals and graduate with a college degree.
- Provide social support by engaging students in activities which increase their sense of belonging and develop personal growth.
- Provide postgraduate/career development skills and activities that cultivate professional growth and lead to successful careers.
- Provide activities that foster independent living skills.
- Provide activities that develop leadership skills and encourage students to take an active role in the community.

Renaissance Scholars Program is the academic retention program supporting incoming freshman, transfer, and continuing undergraduate students who experienced foster care, unaccompanied homeless youth and other independent youth certified by the Financial Aid Office. We are committed to students’ success from college entry through graduation. Renaissance Scholars Program creates a warm environment where students’ belong and can thrive!
