Bulldog Bound - Guaranteed Admissions Program

Fresno State is committed to creating clear and equitable pathways to higher education for students across our region. Bulldog Bound, launched in Fall 2023 for first-time freshmen, now also includes Bulldog Bound Transfer, extending guaranteed admission pathways and dedicated support to eligible transfer students as they prepare to enroll at Fresno State.

Bulldog Bound Freshman is Fresno State’s guaranteed admissions program. It means that high school students from partnering school districts who meet the minimum California State University requirements are guaranteed a spot at Fresno State after they graduate. 

Fresno State Bulldog Bound ensures that qualified students have a clear, tangible path to a college. Fresno State will support students and their families with admission preparation as early as ninth grade.

The Bulldog Bound Transfer Guarantee Program is Fresno State’s guaranteed admissions program, designed to provide transfer students from participating community colleges with a clear and structured pathway to Fresno State. Through this program, eligible students can begin preparing early, understand transfer requirements, and receive guidance to help them stay on track toward admission.

Students who meet the minimum California State University (CSU) upper-division transfer requirements can receive guaranteed admission to Fresno State. The program also connects students with admission preparation, advising, transfer planning tools, and dedicated support resources to help make the transition to the university smoother and more successful.

Please note: Guaranteed admission to Fresno State does not guarantee admission to an impacted program.

Any student in grades 9 through 12 in Fresno State’s partnering school districts can sign a guaranteed admission agreement with Fresno State, with the consent of their parent(s) or guardian(s). 

Fresno State’s partnering school districts are located in Fresno, Madera, Kings, and Tulare counties.

Benefits of the Program

Students who participate in the Bulldog Bound program are guaranteed admission to Fresno State if they meet the minimum requirements. Fresno State and partnering school districts provide students and their families with the resources, services and tools needed to meet these requirements.
By participating in Bulldog Bound, students receive:

  • Guaranteed admissions as early as 9th grade
  • Early admission for 11th graders
  • On-the-spot admissions for 12th graders
  • Fresno State ID Card, email, and library access
  • Help with career and academic major exploration
  • Assistance with the application to Fresno State
  • Early financial aid estimates
  • Scholarship opportunities
  • Campus life experience
  • Summer student experience opportunities
  • Resources for parents/guardians

12th Grade

  • Students enroll and succeed in college preparatory courses (A-G requirements)
  • Fresno State provides the following:
    • On-the-spot admission
    • Early financial aid estimate
    • Scholarship opportunities
  • Parents/guardians and students attend senior admissions reception

11th Grade

  • Students enroll and succeed in college preparatory courses (A-G requirements)
  • Fresno State provides the following:
    • Pre-admission qualification and pre-admission certificate

  • Cal State Apply workshops are available to parents/guardians

10th Grade

  • Students enroll and succeed in college preparatory courses (A-G requirements)

Benefits of the Program

The Bulldog Bound Transfer Guarantee Program is designed to help students feel prepared and supported throughout the transfer process. By participating, students can receive guidance on admission preparation, academic planning, and major and career exploration, as well as access transfer resources to help them stay on track. The program also provides opportunities to connect with Fresno State, learn more about campus life, and take part in experiences that support a smooth transition to becoming a Bulldog.
Program benefits may include:

  • Guaranteed admission to Fresno State for students who meet CSU upper-division transfer requirements
  • Eligibility for a 0.1 GPA bump toward impacted programs (except Nursing)
  • Bulldog Bound Transfer Scholarship opportunities
  • Assistance with the Fresno State admission application
  • Early admission notice
  • Major and career exploration support
  • Campus life experiences, transfer events, and orientation opportunities
  • Access to transfer planning tools, including the CSU Transfer Planner

The Bulldog Bound Transfer Guarantee Program is available to students attending a partner community college in Fresno State’s local service area, including Fresno, Madera, Kings, and Tulare counties. This program is designed for students who are planning ahead, preparing to transfer, and are interested in creating a clear pathway to Fresno State.

By joining the program, eligible students can receive support early in their transfer journey. Students who complete the Bulldog Bound registration form may receive guaranteed admission to Fresno State, as long as they meet the minimum CSU upper-division transfer requirements. Participants can also receive personalized guidance from Fresno State representatives to help create an educational plan, identify required coursework, and stay on track to transfer in three years or less. 

Students are encouraged to use the CSU Transfer Planner to map out coursework and monitor progress toward earning a degree. The program also connects students with academic major exploration, career pathway resources, and transfer support services designed to help make the transition to Fresno State smoother and more successful.
