Direct immigration legal services are available free of charge to CSU students and employees. This project aims to serve undocumented students, students with immigration questions, staff, and faculty. Special Immigrant Juvenile Status
In collaboration with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), Immigrant Legal Defense (ILD), the California State University Chancellor's Office, Foundation for California Community Colleges, and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office will host an informational webinar on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.
Immigration attorneys from the ILRC and ILD will present information regarding Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. Special immigrant juvenile status (SIJS) is one of the most common immigration options for immigrant youth. SIJS is one pathway to a green card for young people under age 21 who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected by one or both of their parents. Many immigrant youths in the United States may be eligible to apply for lawful immigration status. This webinar will provide an overview of what special immigrant juvenile status is, who is eligible, the benefits it provides, how to apply, and where to go for help.
Financial Aid Options for Dreamers:
Renewing the CA Dream Act for the 2024-2025 Academic Year Workshops
The application this year has been delayed. Instead of the original application time being October 1st it had now been open since December 2023 and the deadline has been extended to May 2, 2024. Students can still turn in their application past the May 2 deadline for the 2024-2025 academic year. We encourage students to schedle an appointment with us to find out about renewing their application, options for funding (especially if a student is running out of Cal Grants), understanding why all need to renew regardless of the year they are enrolled, opportunities for Grants, Scholarships, Dream Loan, and opportunities for Credential and Graduate Students.
Monthly Workshops
The Dream Success Center will be hosting monthly workshops for students. These workshops will be facilitated by DSC staff but led by students. This is a safe space for students to share their experiences and relate to one another. Students who attend the workshops will be eligible for a $500 scholarship! Webinars with Immigration Legal Defense Attourneys will also count toward scholarship eligibility. Those events will be via zoom. Please be on the lookout for workshop dates for this upcoming semester.
