Program Services
All EOP students are assigned to counselors who provide academic and personal support throughout their undergraduate experience at California State University, Fresno. Students are required to meet with their counselor at least once during the semester. Some of the services provided by EOP include:
An essential element in experiencing a successful college career is the ability to adjust and transition into the university. Orientation is designed to expose students to campus life, university policies and procedures and campus resources. All EOP incoming freshman and transfer students are expected to participate in an orientation experience by attending Dog Days, Summer Bridge, or University 1.
EOP counselors and peer mentors help students make choices that optimize their educational experience and lead them to achieve their educational and career goals. As students meet with their counselors and peer mentors, they will receive assistance with developing an academic plan, scheduling courses, and understanding general education and graduation requirements.
EOP students receive FREE tutoring from the Learning Center which provides academic support in many subject areas such as Math, English, Writing, Science, Business, Foreign Language, and other General Education courses. Trained tutors help students on an individual basis or in small groups.

Academic Success Workshops (ASW), available through the Learning Center, are designed to help EOP students develop their academic skills. Workshop topics include: Strategic Time Management, Networking for Academic Success, Textbook Tactics, The Art of Relaxation, and Exam Game Plan.

All EOP students who qualify for financial aid may be eligible to receive the EOP grant as determined by the Financial Aid office. EOP grants are awarded based on availability of funding. To be considered for the EOP grant, students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the CA Dream Act Application.

EOP 1st and 2nd year students are assigned to a peer mentor who provides support, encouragement, and guidance. First and second year students are required to meet with their peer mentor at least twice a semester.
