University Advising Center Staff

Angela Bracamonte

Angela Bracamonte is a Fresno State alumni with her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies.  She joined the University Advising Center team in 2010 but has worked on campus as an Administrative Assistant since 2004.  Angela enjoys time with her family, working out, and of course binge watching new shows.

Erika is a coordinator in the Office of New Student and Family Programs, focused on Dog Days: New Student Orientation & MentorU. She is a two time alumna of Fresno State (B.A. in Media, Communications and Journalism--Public Relations and M.A., Higher Education Administration and Leadership). In addition to working with University Advising Services as a student, Erika was highly involved with the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning. Erika is proud to call Fresno her hometown, and loves helping students in their transition to the university. 
 

 Kathy Dunbar

Kathy Dunbar is a Fresno State alumni with her Bachelors degree in Health Administration and earned her Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, OR. She has worked in Higher Education for 20 year with the last 11 at Fresno State in the University Advising Center. In her free time she enjoys road trips, travelling with friends and family, cycling, and just being outdoors enjoying new adventures.

Ashley Fagundes

Ashley Fagundes joined the University Advising Center in 2015 as an academic counselor.  She is a Fresno State alumni, having earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Master's Degree in Counseling & Student Services with an option in Higher Education.  Ashley enjoys working with students to help them find the best path for them here at Fresno State.

Amye Leon

Amye Leon joined the University Advising Center in September 2018. She is a graduate of Fresno State, having earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2001) and Master of Arts in Education (2002) with a concentration in Counseling and Student Services. She also held her first advising job at Fresno State, as an undergraduate peer advisor. 

In 2011, Amye earned her doctoral degree in Education (Ed.D) as part of the first cohort of that program at California State University, Stanislaus, and also worked in Student Affairs at Stanislaus for over a decade before returning to the Fresno area. She greatly enjoys working with students and supporting their progress and success. 

 Monica Olmedo

Monica Olmedo grew up in the small town of Kerman, CA. She graduated from Fresno State earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling and Student Services in Higher Education, along with her Pupil Personnel Services Credential. She joined the University Advising Center team in March 2015 as an Academic Counselor. One thing she enjoys the most is being around family and friends. 

Perla Perez Maciel

Perla Perez-Maciel has been an academic counselor since 2004.  She received her Bachelors and Masters in Social Work along with the Pupil Personnel Credential from Fresno State. She is passionate about empowering students to succeed through the sharing of advising and resources.  

Monica Solis

Monica is the Student Success Analyst (Application Administrator) for Bulldog Connect. She is a two-time alumnus of Fresno State: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership. Monica's goal is to help connect students with the resources they need to succeed in their educational careers. 

 Ken Ternate

Ken oversees the Office of New Student and Family Programs which includes Dog Days: New Student Orientation, MentorU, the Family Association, and the Transfer Success Center. He has worked in the University Advising Center since April 2006. Ken enjoys working with students but his favorite thing to do is shopping for sneakers.

Heather van der Paardt

Heather is a Fresno native and an Alumni of National University with a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Master of Arts in Human Resource Management. She has worked in higher education as a counselor for more than 14 years and joined the University Advising team at Fresno State in 2019.  She is passionate about student success and ensuring each student she meets with have the resources they need to succeed.

Mungnang is a two-time alumna of Fresno State, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology-Victimology and Master of Science degree in Student Affairs and College Counseling. She enjoys working with students to help them receive information to make well-informed decisions about their future and develop purpose in their educational goals.
