Interim Vice President Phong Yang

Phong Yang was appointed Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Fresno State in January 2025. 

Yang is a two-time Fresno State alumni, who has dedicatedly served the university for over 20 years. He began his career in higher education in academic affairs, teaching Hmong courses and overseeing the linguistics department’s Summer Literacy Program. 

He transitioned to student affairs in 2000, where he has served in various positions, most recently as the associate vice president for strategic enrollment management.

Yang said, “I am a part of Fresno State because of the compassionate individuals who surround me. Fresno State feels like home, and I consider myself fortunate to collaborate with like-minded colleagues who share my mission and passion.”
