International & AEI Students

Tuberculosis

All incoming international students must be screened for tuberculosis. Screening is performed with a TB Screening Questionnaire. Students who are arriving from, or who have travelled to, countries with a high incidence of tuberculosis will be tested for tuberculosis infection.  The screening and testing is done in accordance with American College Health Association guidelines.  Students with a prior BCG immunization are REQUIRED to complete the tuberculosis screening and testing, if indicated.

Students requiring TB testing must:
  • Have a T-Spot or Quantiferon Gold Blood test no more than six months prior to arrival in the U.S.
  • Provide the T-Spot or Quantiferon Gold test result document in English

T-spot testing is available in the Student Health and Counseling Center for $60.25. Students who have a positive TB test will be required to have a chest x-ray.  There is no charge for the x-ray in the Student Health and Counseling Center.

Students with a prior positive TB test must provide a report of chest x-ray performed no more than six months prior to arrival in the U.S.

Measles and Rubella

The California State University system requires that students provide proof of measles and rubella immunization.  Students must present:

  • Immunization records documenting prior immunization with measles and rubella vaccine or,
  • Blood test (titer) indicating immunity to measles and rubella

MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is available in the Student Health and Counseling Center.
