Student Health and Counseling Center
What to Expect
When using medical services, you can expect a professional, supportive environment focused on your health and well-being.
Students have multiple options for scheduling an appointment. They can visit our center during business hours to schedule an in-person appointment, call to schedule an appointment over the phone, or schedule online via their MyBulldogHealth account.
Students arriving for their appointment are strongly encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early. Not arriving 15 minutes early may result in rescheduling their appointment to another day/time, and a late/no-show fee will be charged to their MyFresnoState account.
For additional information about Fees or Late Fee information, visit fresnostate.edu/health/about-us/faq.
After checking in and arriving at the designated area for your visit (Area A, B, or C), the student will be called back to do vitals, like their blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, respiration, and weight. If students have an appointment with our Registered Dietitian, they will visit Area D.
We encourage students to be prepared to answer questions about their health history, including past and recent health-related information and hospital visits. It is important to understand a student's past and current medical history to ensure their health care needs are fully met.
If, after speaking with the provider, additional tests or diagnostics are required to ensure quality of care, the provider will order the necessary workups or assessments to be performed at the Health Centers Laboratory and X-Ray area.
If students have questions about tests, potential costs associated with labs or x-rays, or are otherwise seeking clarification on their treatment plan, they are strongly encouraged to ask the provider during their appointment.
If labs or X-rays are needed, medical staff will, following their initial consultation, accompany or show the student to the lab and continue their care with designated lab staff.
Students can access their medical chart and access any lab or x-ray results via their MyBulldogHealth.
To access their lab and X-ray results, select "View My Labs."
To access their medical chart, select "Medical Records."
If a provider prescribes medication as part of the student's individual treatment plan, they can fill and pick up their prescription at the Pharmacy, located inside the health center.
If students are looking for additional information about the Pharmacy, visit the link below.
If, as part of continuity of care, a referral needs to be made to an outside specialist or medical facility and treatment cannot be conducted at the Student Health and Counseling Center, a medical staff member will assist the student regarding contacting applicable insurance agents and establishing a connection between the outside provider and student, that in within coverage.
If the student does not have outside insurance, we can also assist with these requests and work closely with the student to ensure their medical needs are met.
Don't forget, actively enrolled students DO NOT need insurance to be seen at the Student Health and Counseling Center.
