Academic Standing

What does it mean to be on academic warning or academic notice?  This can occur when students obtain a campus (Fresno State) or cumulative (total) grade point average (GPA) below a 2.00.

Here's how Academic Success Coaching can support you.

Requirements for Freshmen and Sophomores

Freshmen or sophomores who obtained a campus or cumulative GPA below a 2.00 are required to complete three meetings with Academic Success Coaching each semester.  Your first required meeting is fulfilled when you attend a Back on Track session or a one-on-one meeting.  At the Back on Track session, your follow up appointments will be scheduled.  While we understand that this can be an additional responsibility, we highly encourage you to meet with ASC at least three times in the semester.  Your academic coach can be a source of motivation for you, help to provide effective study strategies and resources for your classes and ensure that you are aware of campus policies.

Students who connect with Academic Success Coaching obtain at least a letter grade difference in their GPA and have a 80% chance of returning the following semester compared to 0% of students who do not

When will my hold be lifted?  Holds are lifted when students complete the three required meetings with Academic Success Coaching.  It is recommended that students meet at least once a month with a coach.

Not registered for classes yet?  Connect with your major advisor for any support with class registration.  If you are unsure of where to go, email us at asc@mail.fresnostate.edu.
