Academic Standing

What does it mean to be on academic warning or academic notice?  This can occur when students obtain a campus (Fresno State) or cumulative (total) grade point average (GPA) below a 2.00.

FAQs

1. When will my Academic Success Coaching hold be lifted? 
  • The ASC Academic Warning Reg hold will be lifted when all three meetings are completed. 

2. How can I meet with an Academic Coach? 
  • Appointments can be scheduled here.
  • An email can be sent to the Academic Success Coaching team at asc@mail.fresnostate.edu.
  • Call our office at (559) 278-3052

3. I need to register for fall classes but cannot because of the ASC Academic Warning Reg hold. 
  • The hold does not affect registration for the semester you are attending. If you have questions, feel free to contact our office at asc@mail.fresnostate.edu

4. I have been academically dismissed and want to learn more about how I can return to Fresno State. 

5.What can I expect during my sessions with Academic Success Coaching? 
  • Coaches will work with you one-on-one to develop academic goals for the semester, provide study strategies, and connect you with resources based on your needs. A coaching session is typically anywhere between 30 to 45 minutes.

6. What are Back on Track sessions and what can I expect? 
  • Back on Tracks are 50 minute group sessions that will review important dates and policies for the semester you are on academic warning. Additionally, during the session, you will work one-on-one with Academic Coaches to develop academic goals for the semester. At the session, your follow up appointment with Academic Success Coaching will be scheduled. 

7. What happens if I don't complete the required meetings? 
  • We highly encourage you to connect with Academic Success Coaching. Think of us as your accountability partners throughout the semester to help you with motivation, guide you through questions or concerns that may come up, and more. Not completing the required meetings will delay or prevent you from being able to register for spring courses.
