Alya Hassan, President

Alya Hassan is a graduate student in the Advanced Standing Master of Social Work program after completing her bachelor’s degree in Social Work. In her previous role as Senator for the College of Health and Human Services, she advocated for student needs and supported a variety of campus initiatives. Beyond her involvement with ASI, Alya has held several leadership positions in campus clubs and organizations, serving as an orientation leader for the Dog Days program and as Vice President of both the Social Work Student Association and the Muslim Student Association.  Off campus, Alya interned at the Fresno Public Defender’s Office as a defense social worker intern during her final year of undergraduate studies while also working for three years with Fresno Unified School District in the Office of Community Schools. After completing her master’s degree, Alya hopes to continue her education through a doctoral program before returning to Fresno State to teach.
