Born and raised in Modesto, CA, Danielle Vu is a Smittcamp Family Honors College Scholar majoring in Sociology. On campus, she is a student assistant in the Smittcamp Office and has held leadership roles in Camp Kesem, Sustainability Club, and the College of Social Sciences Peer Mentor Program. At Fresno State, she is a McNair Scholar, a researcher in Dr. Walter’s Biology Education and STEM Student Success Lab, and a recent graduate of the Honors Program, where she wrote her thesis on discrimination in healthcare settings. In addition to her past experience as a UC Summer Institute of Emerging Managers and Leaders Scholar, she was a research assistant at the UC Davis Center for Poverty and Inequality Research. This summer, Danielle will be a predoctoral research fellow at Columbia University in New York City. Danielle aspires to become a Sociology professor and give back to the Central Valley through community-informed research.
