Starting a New Club

Student Organization Recognition Status / Public List of Student Clubs

New club registration begins on the Monday of the 4th week of the semester, and closes on the Monday of the last week of instruction.

Register a NEW student club or organization .

The University, through the Student Involvement Center, officially recognizes Fresno State clubs and organizations. Starting a new club is a process that requires the participation of the new club and the Student Involvement Center as outlined below:

  • Ensure that no other club currently exists with a similar purpose
  • Find a minimum of 5 currently enrolled Fresno State students that are interested in the creation of the club
  • Find a Fresno State faculty or staff member who is a state employee (not Auxiliary/Association) hired on a half-time or more basis that would be willing to serve as the club's Advisor
  • Identify a club President and Treasurer for the organization that meet the minimum academic qualifications and unit requirements
  • Create and submit a club Constitution (constitution template)
  • President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Advisor must complete the Officer and Advisor agreement and the Officer or Advisor orientation
  • New clubs can submit their material anytime during the academic year, they will need to complete all requirements 30 days from their initial submission. Once recognized they will do the renewal process each academic year.

To register a new club/organization, you will need the following:

  • All officers and advisors have an active Fresno State ENGAGE account
  • Information needed - Officers first and last names, student ID's, email addresses, and phone #'s
  • Information needed - Advisor(s) first and last name(s), email address(s), and office phone #(s)

President, Treasurer and Advisor Qualifications

  • An individual employed on a half-time or more basis as a faculty or staff member by California State University, Fresno (Auxiliary staff and student assistants are not eligible to serve as advisors).

  • Must have 3.0 GPA
  • Minimum of 3 units per semester
  • 50 unit maximum
  • Must be in good academic standing

  • Must have 2.0 GPA
  • Minimum of 6 units per semester
  • 150 unit maximum
  • Must be in good academic standing

  • Must currently be enrolled
