Class Participation Certification

Beginning Fall 2025, all degree-seeking students will be required to complete a Class Participation Certification each semester through their Student Center. The process will be open each semester from the first day of instruction through Census.

This new process is a federal compliance measure to verify the start of academic activity for students receiving financial aid. Since a large majority of Fresno State students receive aid—and a student can apply at any time during the semester—the certification is required for all degree-seeking students.

The process requires students to certify they are attending each enrolled course and acknowledge they read and accept the Academic Code of Integrity. Students will be notified to complete the process via their Fresno State email on the first day of instruction and will receive reminders until the process is complete or until Census.

Failure to complete the certification process or not completing the certification for all courses may result in a reduction or cancellation of financial aid, depending on the number of units certified.

For Fall 2025 the certification period will be open from August 20 – September 17.

Contact the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office if you have questions or need additional information.
